Negotiated Learning Plan, Fine Art In Society:
1.) What interests or drives you?
I am driven by learning new things and then playing around with my finds as much as I can. I like to adventure and push things as far as I possible, I also like to experiment with deifferent materials/meduims so this is defianlty something that intrests me.
I am very intriged by other peoples beliefs and how differently everyone goes on about their everyday lives so this leads me to the subject of Culture. I'd like to explore the topic of Culture as it is something I would love to build my knowledge upon then pull out art work from. When researching on my platform I will be looking at cultural things such as: fashion, jobs, beliefs, jewellery, masks and more.
2.) What materials do you think might best serve your investigations?
I plan on using a variety of different materials so that I am not focusing all my work in just one area. I'd like to do some: drawings, paintings, prints and some mask making. Since I have a intrest in mask making I beleive the best materials for this would be either cardboard or clay so that they have a sturdy hold.
3.) What media / areas possible exhibition sites/participatory project opportunities you intend to explore and research?
I intend to explore around locally for somewhere to exhibit my work, meaning somewhere in Sunderland. The work that I plan on producing will be more suitable to be shown indoors rather than out, this is due to materials I plan on using and also depending on weather conditions. So, taking these terms into consideration I plan on locating my work either inside of the University or inside another building not too far away. With having to think of the most suitable environment for my work I have been thinking of questioning to display my work in locations such as:
The Shaun Gallery, The University Café, The Winter Gardens Greenhouse, The Sunderland Empire and a few more.
4.) How will you measure your success?
Measuring success is not just the end result but the whole process. To measure my result, I will look right back to the beginning and take into mind how I have handled the whole project. Success is gaining the confidence to ask around, structuring and handling my posters so that they will be seen, displaying my work, people turning up to my event, success for me is being one step further on then I already was.
