What interests or drives you?
I am driven deeply to raise awareness and highlight undergoing emotion through my work. I am intrigued to see how far I can push myself in progress of covering as many circumstances as possible. I suppose you could say that I am very driven to see my final reactions and development’s. Throughout life we all feel different emotions and all go through many different situations but many of us hide behind some kind of invisible mask to avoid opening up about these ongoings, I just want to make art that sends out the message that how we can feel from time to time is nothing to be ashamed of.
I am also still very interested in exploring masks from all over the World as I feel like I still have many cultures to explore, so I will still be proceeding with this development also.
What materials do you think might best serve your investigations? What media/ areas/ possible exhibition sites/ participatory project opportunities do you intend to explore and research?
So due to one of my favorite areas in art being painting I want to involve it into my project as much as I can, but I also love messing around with cardboard so I think it would be interesting to see how I can combine both of these mediums together.
Since I am still looking at masks from all over the World I would like to explore more materials rather than just carrying on with cardboards, so far I have been thinking about Lino and Paper Mache.
I have been looking at exhibition sites such as: the sunderland empire, the sunderland cinema, the murray library and more. I will be doing an extra post upon which locations I think will suit my needs the most, but so far I am thinking more into areas that relate to my theme.
How will you measure your success?
I will measure my success by reflecting on how far I have come from the start of my module and how much knowledge I have gained from the ongoings. Success for me is all based on learning new things and techniques that allow me to progress along in my art journey. Due to an unseen circumstance of a world wide virus I will definitely take it more easy on myself when looking back at my developments. Due to the Virus I have not been able to buy as many of certain products as I wish due to low stock and stock limits such as: Canvas’ , cardboard, paints, Lino blocks and more. Also I have had no access at all to sources/ processes such as: The print room, Library and so on. So you could also say I will measure my success on how I carried myself and my work through such a tough time.
