Kimmy Cantrell is a very talented artist who discovered his unique skills within Clay back when he was in high school, although Cantrell loved working in this area he did not proceed to go further into it and instead he took on business at Georgia State University.
Joyfully after almost 20 whole years Cantrell united back with Clay, he then started rattling off piece by piece, such as: Bowls, Vases and Masks. In every piece of art work that Kimmy Cantrell created you could see repetition of familiarity from his other peices which linked them all beautifully, by this I mean: by the way he would add and subtract clay, also by his choice of colours and the abstract effect that he would use.
When looking at Cantrell’s work you can see quite clearly that he is a huge fan of the colour red, in one of his interviews he even states that he has used red in almost 95% of his work. I like the idea that the artist would use the colour red often as it is such a bold and powerful colour, especially when he uses it on his masks for the lip features as it comes across as his very own signature look.
What inspired me and attracted me to Kimmy’s art was most defiantly his masks, I do believe this is due to being interested in mask making my self and also due to his amazing ability. I love the way he lays out the positions of the facial features and emphasize’s certain features, this including the increase of features. Cantrell’s work definitely inspires me for future idea’s.
Due to the whole of Kimmy Cantrell’s work being marked with copyright I have not published any photos of his work, so here is the link to his very own website:
