Behind The Mask:

So on my last post I described what this collection was all about although I only gave the topics of what kind of situtions I would be covering so here is some extra information upon my work.

Brave Face:

Brave Face is a Acrylic paiting on a 50cmx40cm canvas that has also been combined with cardboard.

Brave face was my first painting of this series. At first I was unsure what I was getting at when making this painting as I was just playing around with masks designs. It wasn't until my painting was fisnished and I was reflecting back at it and noticed it actually looked rather sad and confussed, I started to ask my self when would this mask be worn? I then thought about how we all wear these kind of invisible masks everday to hide our problems that we don't want to talk about and I believe this is exaclty what this mask is, putting on a brave face. I was happy with my outcome of this abstract mask which is a new style of work for me.

The Loud Silence:

The Loud Silence is to represent all the men and women who have or are suffering from Domestic Violence. I believe this is a subject we don't seem to talk about as much as we should so I felt it was important to inculde this into my series of paintings in hope to raise awareness. People who suffer from the voilence often keep this quiet as they fear the outcome if they spoke up or feel that other people won't understand.

There are a few things that I would change in this paiting for example I would take away the cardboard open eye as I feel that it does not fit in with the paiting as much as I hoped it would. This painting is on a canvas sized 50cmx40cm and has also been done using Acrylic paint.

Feelings Of Fertility:

This painting is the biggest out of the range and one of my favourties. I really enjoyed making a large mask like body at such a large scale. Feelings Of Fertility is to raise awareness on issues people deal with with their Fertility. We always just assume, we always ask and implie things such as "Aw you should have a baby", "When do you plan on having children" and so much more withouth even thinking of what people could be dealing with. Sadly on April fools day you do come across many jokes on people pretending to be pregant ect and we just don't understand how much this could be hurting someone. I hope this peice makes us step and think before we ask or say certain things and to also let people who may relate to this peice know that they are incredible.

Feelings Of Fertility stands at 90cmx90cm

Antisocial:

Antisoical has been paiting on a 79cmx30cm scale canvas. I have produced this painting to highlight Antisoical personality disorder. This disorder effects people in many ways inculding for them to want to avoid socialism at all cost. No matter wether they want to interact with someone or not they feel like they can not physically and mentally. It's almost like a huge build up of anxiety causing them to fear the what if's.

Overall I am rather happy with this production of paintings although there are some parts I am not to happy with at the same time. Due to the Virus Outbreak this caused the paints that I always use to become completely sold out, so instead I decided to go for another brand that I had never used before. Sadly this brand weren't the best meduim to use for my dabbing technique but I used it to my ability the best I could.
