African Mask sketches:

Behind every piece of art you will find a sketch or some form of planning. I enjoy playing around with designs and just seeing how they turn out. Every new sketch creates another new idea meaning they just start to roll off the top of my mind, so yeah I love this process of planning even if they do just stay as sketches.

These pieces were all behind the planning of my African masks and as you can see amongst them all is the final design that I used to produce my first South African mask.

These designs all hold different styles of patterns but all include forms of lines and shapes as pattern is very important to the African Culture. In certain sketches I added in piercings and unusual jewellery as there is a handful of Tribes who strongly believe in wearing these accessories for cultural belief
