Walter Hood Fitch:

Recently I have discovered an artist known as Walter Hood Fitch, a man who dedicated all his work to Botanical illustrations through Lithography in the 19th century. Fitch’s work is made up of the most exquisite plants composed in the most beautiful pigments, there for his work encouraged me to expand my abilities of inviting colour into my floral designs. I love how his choice of shades added such a warm and comforting perception to his prints, I aimed to achieve a similar effect.

Jane Loudon:

Jane Loudon has not only inspired me by her astonishing quality of work but her capability of generating and organizing her still life paintings into the most unique positionings, where you have the opportunity to view each blossom for what it is. It is fascinating to see how she has bundled her flowers together but not near enough for them to all become entangled to one another, I have plans of embracing ideas from her assembled arrangements into my future pieces.

Paul Morrison:

During working on my project, I identified a new artist known as Paul Morrison. What really attracts me to the artist work is how he harvests and portrays such a bold, monochrome theme to his floral pieces and makes these very delicate living organisms suddenly become mighty and adventurous. When I look at the artist’s work, I get a fantasy feel from it, almost like living in a world where the plants overshadow and control, even vibes from Jack and the beanstalk or James and the Giant Peach! From this I was influenced into playing around with dimensions.

Due to all of Paul Morrison's work being under copyright, I have decided to insert the link to Paul's website:

Georgia O’Keeffe:

After discovering Georgia O’Keeffe’s work, I was instantly intrigued in the idea of introducing my work onto a larger scale, not only that but to also get more up close and personal to the plants that I am working on. I think getting closer to the flowers helped with getting to know their structures and learn that little bit more about them, what was located where and why.

Maximillien Luce:

Some artists motivate us, some inspire us, some make us believe and for me Maximilien Luce ticks every one of these boxes. This is an artist who motivates me daily, I believe this is due to Luce being an artist who also participated in Neo-impressionism just the same way that I do. Every time I look at his paintings, I am blown away with the way he uses the technique to produces such realistic outcomes. From this, the artist helps to strengthen my determination and to keep proceeding with my approach to pointillism in order to continue to better myself.
